As we work together for a stronger South Side, the South Side Community Economic Development Center is proud to introduce our standing committees, each playing a crucial role in shaping the economic landscape of our neighborhood.
When you join the South Side Community Economic Development Center you can join our Asset Building Committee, which focuses on designing, developing, and facilitating asset-building products and programs at the center, our Financial Education Committee is committed to maximizing outreach by recruiting volunteer financial educators to teach classes, our Economic Development Committee to impact residential and commercial real estate development, our Urban Planning and Public Policy Committee, actively tracking legislation, city and state plans for redevelopment, and researching financing tools impacting community development, or our Membership Committee that recruits and mobilizes new members.

This committee is established to design, develop, and or/facilitate asset development products, and programs at the Center. This includes Individual Development Accounts (IDA’s), microenterprise training and loan programs, and homeownership opportunities.
The financial education committee ensures that the Center maximizes its outreach into the community by recruiting a host of volunteer financial educators to teach classes at off-site locations. This also includes a “Train-the-Trainer” program and the youth credit union initiative.
The economic development committee is charged with collaborating with local, city, state, and federal agencies that impact residential and commercial real-estate development .
As the premiere community economic development agency for Chicago’s South Side neighborhood, the Center, through this committee, actively tracks legislation and city and state plans for redevelopment.
This committee serves as the community organizing component of the center. It recruits and mobilizes new members into the organization to build a stronger force to fight for economic justice and job creation/retention.
